On March 25th, 1976, the world was blessed with the appearance of Amy Smart. In Topango Canyon, California, the beautiful and talented actress made her first ever appearance.

Her first taste of fame came with the surprise hit "Varsity Blues" (with James Van Der Beek). Her performance as Van Der Beek's [brunette] girlfriend was one of the roles that stood out. The movie's momentum helped carry her career a bit further. But Ali Larter, with her infamous whip-cream bikini scene, stole the hearts of American boys.

Another act of chance also put her career a step higher. Her role in "Outside Providence" was directed by the Farrley Brothers who were fresh off their huge success with "There's Something About Mary." The buzz of that film carried over to "Providence" and helped the film receive decent critical praise. But Amy had been around (and receiving praise for her work) before Varsity Blues was even dreamed up. She had a turn on "The Last Time I Committed Suicide" an indie film which was screened at the 1997 Sundance festival. A minute role in "Starship Troopers" (opposite Denise Richards) followed, and finally she won critical praise again for her performance in "How to Make the Cruelest Moth."

Her biggest step toward the "light of fame" came with her performance in "Road Trip" with Tom Green. The actress had a few notable scenes, including a nude scene that made us forget completely about Ali Larter. The scene, however, was not as scripted, says Amy. She says she wasn't expecting an extensive nude shot, but instead thought she would be topless for just a bit. But, the way it happended she feels fit well with the script and worked with the general feel of the movie. We thought it was perfect Amy!
